Songs and stories inspired by real life

My songs and lyrics are raw, honest, and real. They grow out of what I have lived through — on journeys, in conversations, within my family, and in moments that stay with me.
They speak of love, joy, disappointment, challenges, war and loss, of closeness and hope.

They are not invented stories, but experiences that have found their own way into music and words.

Between journeys, encounters, and life at the edge

Since my early twenties, I have kept setting out again and again — in those younger years with a backpack, often hitchhiking, always open to the unknown. My paths have taken me through North and Central America, Asia, Australia, India, the Middle East, as well as Europe and Russia.

What has shaped me is not only the places, but above all the people. Encounters that stay under the skin: stories of war and displacement, of loss — but also of trust, humanity, and hope. Moments that remain, long after the journey moves on.

Out of these experiences, my songs and texts take shape.

I work between music and literature — as a singer-songwriter and author. My pieces are stripped back, clear, and intimate. They speak of life at the edge, of inner and outer journeys, of fate, and of the search for grounding in a world full of contradictions.

And yet it is not only about what is heavy. Within everything, there is also the quiet question of closeness, of love, of a place where one arrives — perhaps only for a fleeting moment.

My music follows this same spirit: understated, honest, with room for nuance. My book carries forward what begins in the songs — stories that need more time to unfold.

I do not give answers.
But I tell stories.
And I invite you to listen, to look closely —
and to enter stories that linger.

A life in songs and words.

I set out. Again and again. With nothing but a backpack, a hitchhiker’s thumb, and the sense that the world is greater than all I know about it.
Roads stretch out beneath me, borders blur, languages dissolve into glances, gestures, silence. And somewhere in between, the stories begin.

Not loudly. Never loudly.

They sit across from me on dusty buses, nurse a child, share bread, or simply a moment.
They speak of nights when everything was lost.
Of roads that no longer know their direction. Of war. Of flight.
And then — almost imperceptibly — of what still remains:
a hand that does not let go. A smile at the wrong moment. Hope that needs no reason.

I collect nothing. I hold on to nothing. And yet something remains.
It settles between the ribs, in the pauses between two thoughts,
there where words have not yet decided whether they want to be spoken.

And at some point, they become songs. Texts.
Fragments of something that cannot be explained.

I do not write in order to answer. I write because there is something that wants to be heard.
Quietly. Unobtrusively. Persistently.

My language leaves out what does not need to be said.
My music leaves space for what happens between the notes.
And perhaps it is exactly there that something touches something else.

Not completely. Not forever.
But near enough to remain.

Current book

For this reason

This is my first book.

Many people have asked me over the years to write down my journey to faith. With this book, I have finally done that—and fulfilled a promise I made to many.

In it, I share my personal search for meaning in life and for truth in faith. I also explore the question of whether there is a church on earth that acts and teaches with God’s authority.

Travel Snippets

In my younger years, I spent a long time traveling with a backpack. Alaska, Canada, the USA, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Southeast Asia, Australia, the Philippines, Russia—many countries, many different people and cultures. I experienced and learned so much along the way. Some of it I wrote down, and it is now finding its way into a book I call Travel Snippets.
